Our Founding Team is highly mission-driven and brings substantial Provider, Payer, and Public Health experience to engagements. We bring qualifications in a variety of organizational environments that include large and small scale, for-profit and non-profit, research, consulting and corporate, public, and private. We have a focused and dedicated team with partners and networked organizations across the country.
Greg Miller is a management consultant, board advisor, and investor with a focus on healthcare and corporate information technology. He is the owner of Hayland Advisors LLC and his recent experience includes strategic planning, business-technology transformation, project and program delivery, and finance. Greg manages investment funds in publicly traded and private equity markets is a member advisor at the Maryland Innovation Center and with the Minnesota Cup, the largest statewide startup competition in the country. He is also networked to Big Idea CONNECTprenuer, Startup Grind, and Chesapeake Digital Health Exchange startup communities.
Greg is the current Board Chair of the National Kidney Foundation of MDDE, a member of the University of Minnesota President’s Club, Co-founder of Health Tech Alley, and former member of the Greater Baltimore Committee. Previously, Greg held Business and IT executive roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield. Prior to this, he served clients through Deloitte Consulting across healthcare, manufacturing, consumer retail, and energy industries and also worked at Ameriprise Financial. He has a B.S in Finance and Economics from the University of Minnesota, an MBA from the University of North Carolina and CFA, ITIL and FLMI designations.
Arti Patel Varanasi
Dr. Arti Patel Varanasi's experience spans cancer research, advocacy, capacity building, public health, and project management. As President and CEO of Advancing Synergy, LLC, Arti is passionate about developing innovations that build stronger communities and enable all individuals to lead healthier and longer lives. She is interested in leveraging technology to address chronic disease and increase health equity. Arti is a long-time advocate for improving training and opportunities for postdoctoral fellows and graduate students and is an active member of the health, entrepreneurial, and technology communities in the Washington, DC-Maryland-Virginia area. Arti is a lecturer in the Johns Hopkins University Biotechnology Master’s program, co-chairs the MIC Health Tech Innovators group with Robert, and currently chairs the Maryland Innovation Center Women in Tech group. Arti received her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, MPH from the Johns Hopkins University, and is a graduate of the National Science Foundation-funded ACTiVATE® program for women technology entrepreneurs.
Mr. Robert Zimmerman has developed health and human services information and risk management systems throughout the United States. As a Deloitte Partner, he served as regional project risk services and IT audit leader as well as a regional and national diversity leader. As an entrepreneur and business leader, his current focus is on developing innovative and efficient security and technology solutions for the healthcare industry. He has supported over 250 community health centers to enhance their security and privacy culture and technology innovation. He is also a founder of the Health Technology Access Alliance that provides IT and Data Analytics education, training, and health IT access to underserved rural and urban communities. Robert and Arti worked together to develop health IT and data analytics curriculum to help fill the technology skills gap in community health centers and community hospitals. Realizing the shortage of women and minorities in technology fields, Robert is now partnering with educational institutions across the country to conduct health IT classes and workshops to provide participants with the fundamental health IT skills and knowledge required to drive change.
